Artist Biography
Vladimir
Zhdanov
Multidisciplinary Artist,
exploring
creative storytelling through
painting, animation, film and visual art. Moscow-born, London-based.
Artworks
I make visual stories about states of mind and small figures under pressure. Blending magical realism with social and political undertones, I use dreamlike imagery to point at real things: the quiet absurdity, subtle magic and latent horrors of the present. Storytelling comes first, so I move across disciplines: oil painting, concept art, posters and comics.
Films
I make short films about fragile minds, broken routines and people trying to hold themselves together under pressure. Mixing speculative premises with everyday struggle, I move between dark comedy and quiet heartbreak, often drawing from things I've lived through. The story decides the form, so I work across live action and animation.
I blend
magical realism
with social and political undertones —
dreamlike
imagery
that asks the viewer to sit with the
unsettling
and the
emotionally resonant.
